Our team is celebrating the completion of another beautiful historic home renovation! This River Oaks home was originally built in 1939, and desperately needed some TLC when our homeowners purchased it. Working with Mirador Group as their architecture and interior design firm, the homeowners reimagined several key spaces within the home, including the front living room, family room, kitchen, wine room, third-floor attic, garage apartment, and two upstairs primary bedroom suites. Cosmetic updates were made to all other areas of the home as well. Beyond the interior, the home’s exterior was completely reconfigured, from removing balconies at the front and rear elevations to modernizing the front entry and reworking the back of the home with an expansive window and door system.
What a transformation this home received! And the best part is knowing that this nearly century-old home will now be standing for another 100 years or more. Anytime our team renovates an historic home, we work closely with an energy and sustainability expert to take a high-quality, holistic approach to changing the home. All of the mechanical systems, building materials, and construction methods must be proactively considered to ensure they will “behave” well together in order to create a high-performing and healthy home for decades to come. This is no easy task, but an incredibly rewarding one.
